Bird Watching
Fort Stevens is excellent for bird watching. The park contains a special bird watching platform designed just for you. We are located at the confluence of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean, and the estuary near the Officer's Inn is the home to many permanent and migratory species. And, we also host many varieties of raptors, such as bald eagles, golden eagles, red tailed hawks, and numerous ospreys. Also, there is an unidentified owl that lives in the trees behind the Officer's Inn. We haven't seen him yet, but you can hear him almost every night!
