The annual Astoria Scandinavian Mid-Summer Festival took place June 18, 19, 20, during the longest days of the year.  This authentic event highlights the northern european heritage that took root in the Astoria region at the turn of the last century when immigrants from Scandinavia settled here.  Back in "The Day" there was a lot of tension between local Finns, Norwegians, Swedes, and Danes.  But nowadays we all get along just fine, and Astoria is a seen by many as a model of ethnic diversity!
